You said "And the device will respond after the first repeat anyway" - but that misses the point. Try adjusting JUST your repeat value and you will see the difference. The Sofabaton line looks close, but the reviews are not very consistent. Please select from one of the options below in order to get started. Someone out there needs to carry the torch I looked into getting an alternative remote to prepare myself for wherever they nuke the Harmony server. The Harmony Team has confirmed: It's compatible with Harmony hubbased products Select your remote We need to know which type of remote you have in order to provide you the correct instructions. With repeats set to 2 or 3, scrolling continues for a not-insubstantial period of time after the key is released, and the LED at the top of the Harmony remote makes it clear that it is still blasting signals after the key is released. FLIRC Skip 1s seems to be the Harmony replacement we are all waiting for. With the repeats set to 0 and the interkey delay turned down as far as possible, guide scrolling works as expected (smooth scrolling and the scrolling stops when you release the key). You will notice it most when you press and hold the up or down arrow keys when scrolling the guide. With respect to Media Center, using the Microsoft IR receiver, changing the repeats helps considerably. To live with Harmony slowness, you have to change YOUR behavior, i.e., guide surfing rather than channel surfing, number plus skip (or sequences) versus multiple presses of skip, you get the idea. But even the lowest setting can't overcome the normal slowness of a Harmony. Just walk through our super simple cross platform pairing application, and you're done. Flirc allows you to pair any remote control with your computer or media center. Previously I had it set up exactly as described in Tips for setting up your Logitech Harmony for use with SHIELD. ![]() Interkey delay is the main thing you need to change. Flirc USB Thoughtfully designed to make creating media solutions easy. It may appear that things speed up with the correct number of repeats since things generally just work smoother and more reliably. December 26, 2017, 05:14 PM Having purchased a Harmony Elite & hub on Amazon Black Friday deals, I was disappointed to find out that it was not easy to control Homeseer directly from the remote and the only option (I found) was to use the HA-Bridge software and emulating Philips Hue lamps. It's not really helpful for speeding things up. Changing repeats is needed only when a device is missing or doubling commands. And the device will respond after the first repeat anyway. The duration of 2 or 3 repeats is only a few milliseconds. Most devices expect at least 2 to get a complete signal. My friends just roll their eyes at me and deliberately turn my light switches on manually to mess with my automations.Mdavej wrote:Changing repeats is not a panacea. I'm like "why is your light not just turning on when I enter a room?", and "how come I can't turn on your TV, Xbox, AVR, shut the blinds, turn the lights on the room to a different pattern and colour, and turn off the doorbell chime just by saying "Alexa, Game time"? ![]() Going to other people's houses now is like when you had one of the first touchscreen phones for a few months and you had to use a friend's phone to do something for a minute and you spent 90 seconds prodding the screen before remembering most people didn't have touchscreens yet. I've got one that uses geolocation and local network connection to HA to detect if I'm coming in the front door, and if I've been out for more than five minutes then it'll trigger an automation to welcome me home, turn on the lights, turn on the AVR, start the Nvidia Shield, run Plex, and then go to music and play tracks tracks randomly from my library (the Plex server actually runs off of the same server as my HA instance) Luckily I'm single so I can do what the hell I like with regards to automations. Yeah, while the voice assistants are great, and Nabu Casa makes linking then to HA easy, I'd much rather have entirely local voice control.
